Numerous Facility Enhancements Completed During Summer 2025

Posted Date: 8/30/25 (6:11 PM)

Throughout the summer, a plethora of projects aimed at improving safety and functionality were completed in our six schools and District Office.

Four of gym floors, at Boyle, Clinton, JFK and CHS, were sanded down and restriped. At JFK Middle School, the project also included new wall padding around the perimeter of the gymnasium.

At District Office, removal of old carpeting and asbestos flooring has continued, which is part of an ongoing facelift of each office. This summer, the Curriculum & Instruction, Transportation, Registration and Pupil Personnel Services offices were abated, with new flooring installed afterwards. The Transportation, Registration and Pupil Personnel Services offices also received modernized heating and cooling systems, fresh paint and new electrical and network wiring.

Comsewogue High School now has a new walkway from the bus circle to the front entrance, eliminating the unstable concrete and brickwork. Drainage improvements were also made in the front of the building. The solar panel project is in progress, with an estimated completion date of November 2025. In addition to the roof, the solar project will also include a covered carport in the north parking lot near the tennis courts.

The Clinton Avenue Elementary School Main Office suite, which also included the main conference room, received a full facelift, beginning with a full asbestos abatement followed by new sheetrock to replace old wood paneling, paint, new ceiling tiles and a baseboard heating system to replace large, outdated unit ventilators. Electrical and network wiring were also upgraded as part of this renovation to accommodate specific needs for the office.

LED lighting continues to be installed in hallways and classrooms throughout the district. All classrooms and offices at Clinton are now equipped with LED lights, as well as the Boyle Road Elementary School hallways, cafeteria and library. Large areas at Terryville, including the Main Office, cafeteria and main entrance are also beginning to get new lighting.

Other projects throughout the summer included fresh parking lot line striping at Norwood, Terryville and JFK, a new, lowered ceiling with LED lighting in the Boyle main lobby, new flooring and ceilings in multiple offices at JFK, and new fencing in select areas at Clinton.

We extend our kudos to the Buildings & Grounds department which includes our Plant Facilities Manager, custodial staff, maintenance team and grounds department for their hard work and dedication throughout the summer, as many of these projects were completed by our talented in-house staff.
