Halloween time had arrived at Terryville Elementary. The school became alive with a spooky spirit as decorations hung in every hallway and classroom. There were many fun activities held throughout the Comsewogue community to get everyone excited for Halloween. Terryville had gotten in the Halloween spirit by doing a Pumpkin Decorating Contest.

The students and teachers had worked together to create their pumpkin masterpieces! The creativity and hard work the students had put in surely paid off. From Mrs. Munson’s Gumball Machine pumpkin to Mrs. Tufo’s Baby Yoda, there was talent everywhere! All of the pumpkins were displayed out in the main lobby for everyone to see when they walked by. After everyone was able to observe each and every pumpkin, they chose their favorite and were able to vote for a winner. Although winning feels great, that’s not what this contest was about. The contest was about teamwork and coming together to create something different and exciting that maybe you wouldn’t expect to see on a pumpkin. Each pumpkin had its own aspect that made it unique, and that’s what makes these contests so special.

While the finished pumpkins were fun to look at, it's always important to reflect on all the teamwork that was put into the process of decorating the pumpkins. Without the help of students, teachers, and staff, this event wouldn’t have been possible!  Everyone did such an amazing job that it's surely impossible to pick a winner. Terryville had welcomed Halloween with style!
